A vacation out of the ordinary – Batalden Ishus
Batalden Ishus (Ice house) was built in 1936 for the purpose of storing ice for fishing boats returning from the sea. This distinctive building was completely renovated to meet modern standards and comfort. We offer accomodation in a large apartment with 5 bedrooms (2 beds in each), 1 bathroom, 1 half-bath, living room with television, dining room with plenty of seating for everyone at the large table, a well equipped eat-in kitchen and beautiful sea views. A few steps away is an out-building with a large kitchen, laundry and extra shower. Wi-fi and final cleaning are included in the price.
The ground floor contains a banquet room and an extra bathroom. Surrounding the main building you will find idyllic outdoor seating areas, and a dock for easy access to our boats which can be rented during your stay..

The apartment on the first floor is available for groups of up to 10 people and has 5 bedrooms (10 beds), 1 bathroom, 1 half-bath, living room, dining room, well equipped kitchen with dining area, television and wi-fi. Everything is move-in ready. Next to the main house is a smaller building with a large kitchen, laundry and extra shower. Prices include final cleaning. Smaller groups and longer stays equal lower daily rates. Please contact us for a custom offer.

The sea around Batalden is rich in fish, and whether you choose to fish from
land or on the sea, you are most often guaranteed a good catch.
If you want to take short or long walks, or challenging hikes, there is something for everyone nearby. The islands have several marked trails. Store Batalden, Lille Batalden and Blåkollen are the mountain peaks (islands) closest to Fanøy, and you can easily get there by boat that you may rent from us. If you want to visit the islands that are further away, we recommend to go by the local fast-paced ferries that connect the islands.
From the top of Store Batalden you have fantastic views from 492 meters above sea level, and from Lille Batalden you can see straight out to the mighty ocean coming in from the west. There are also other nice hiking areas nearby, such as the islands of Kinn and Hovden.

Get out on the sea
Up on the mountain.
Watch the sun set on the horizon and rise again over the mountains to the east. Prepare the fish that you have just caught. Find a remote bay. Go on a discovery journey between the islands and see how the White-tailed Eagle dive for fish. All this, while you feel how the ocean breeze gently comes over the mountains and fills your senses with the smell of nature and the sea.
